These are leaked photos that are to be used in marketing materials and toys mostly. The reason for the white background, is so that the designers of the products can quickly and cleanly remove the image from the background and replace it with any background of their choice. (It's like green screen techniques used in films)
In other good news, not only will "I Am Legend" have the 7 minute prologue of "The Dark Knight", but the new trailer as well. If you see the film on IMAX, you will get both, but regular theaters will get the trailer only.
