Breast Cancer Race for the Cure - Salt Lake City

This last Saturday, Lisa, myself and our wonderful friend Valerie were among the 17,000 people who took part in the 12th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Salt Lake City.  It was amazing to see so many people all walking to help find a cure for breast cancer.   In the greater Salt Lake City area, there are more than 1,400 reported cases of breast cancer and at least 210 will die from the disease this year, according to Race chair, Bob Weaver. It is estimated that one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and one woman will die of it every 13 minutes. In the U.S., a woman has about a 12 percent, or one in eight, lifetime risk of developing breast cancer.
This was our second year participating, and we walked in celebration of Lisa's mother LaRene, her aunt Lorraine, her aunt Geraldine, and her grandmother who have all fought this disease.
If possible, please make a donation to the Susan Komen Foundation here.
