Westboro Baptist Church will picket LDS President Hinckley's funeral

Members of the Topeka, Kan., Westboro Baptist Church have picketed several military funerals out of a belief that the war in Iraq is a punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality. The group issued a press release Monday saying members will picket LDS President Hinckley's funeral.

Well, isn't that mighty Christian of them.

What has the world come to? Evil is just evil, intolerance is intolerance, stupidity is stupidity no matter what religious cloak it wraps itself in. I personally don't care if you are Muslim, Catholic, Buddhist, Mormon, Agnostic, etc. What matters is how you treat others, and how you treat yourself. It's that simple. I feel sorry for the people that feel like they have to picket a funeral for a 97 year old man.

This is the group that wants to picket Heath Ledger's funeral too.

Pathetic is the only word I can come up with. Simply pathetic.

This is the post on their website: http://www.godhatesfags.com/schedule.html

02/02/2008 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM Salt Lake City,

UT LDS Conference Center 60 W. North Temple

This is for the funeral of LDS president Gordon B. Hinckley. This Mormon fool preaches lies, and he is in Hell, lifting his eyes in torments. He taught that God was a liar about His covenant between one man, one woman, one lifetime: Mark 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Jesus Christ said, that "if you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15). The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is not about the business of "proselytizing" or causing people to "come to Christ." Man doesn't have the prerogative- That is GOD'S (John 6:44). Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees [Mormons], hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. See www.signmovies.net, particularly "Fag Church," "Your Pastor is a Whore," "Billy is a Lying Whore," and "Pope in Hell." This false prophet is no different from the Billy Graham or the Pope. They are all different heads on the same monster: False Religous Systems (aka the "Great Whore of Babylon", see Revelation 17). God hates the Whorehouse called the "Church of Latter-Day Saints!" America is Doomed! Amen.

Neil Peart sums these people up much more eloquently than I ever could.

"Witch Hunt" - Rush

The night is black, without a moon.
The air is thick and still.
The vigilantes gather on
The lonely torchlit hill.

Features distorted in the flickering light,
Faces are twisted and grotesque.
Silent and stern in the sweltering night,
The mob moves like demons possesed.
Quiet in conscience, calm in their right,
Confident their ways are best.

The righteous rise
With burning eyes
Of hatred and ill-will.
Madmen fed on fear and lies
To beat and burn and kill.

They say there are strangers who threaten us,
Our immigrants and infidels.
They say there is strangeness to danger us
In our theatres and bookstore shelves,
That those who know whats best for us
Must rise and save us from ourselves.

Quick to judge,
Quick to anger,
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand.

Bob Mould live version of "If You Change Your Mind"

When I had the unfortunate experience of watching Britney Spears completely implode a career at the MTV Music Awards this weekend, I couldn't help but think of this line from the song "Natural Science" by Rush.

"Art as expression ---
Not as market campaigns
Will still capture our imaginations
Given the same
State of integrity
It will surely help us along"

So much of music today is mixed within an inch of it's life. Bands are thrown into stadiums with one single, and after a follow up CD, the industry throws them aside and they lie on the junk heap like empty husks - victims after a vampire feasting.
Few bands or musicians last 3 years, let alone decades like Bob Mould has. He's one of the most underrated singers, guitar players, musicians out there. Husker Du inspired many of the alternative music of the 1990s. He wrote the theme song for "The Daily Show" and is just an amazing talent. I haven't been able to see him live yet, but I hope to one day.

Neil Peart Drum Solo

This is from the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert. The best rock drummer of all time shows he can play any style. They don't call him "The Professor" for nothing!
