University of Utah makes possibly the world's smallest logo

An engineer from the University of Utah has created what may be the smallest college logo ever. It's 70 microns across which is the width of a blonde human hair. The fine line that encircles the emblem is equivalent to 75 gold atoms strung together. This makes me a proud alumnus of the U of U. Go Utes!

One of the best short films I have ever seen

I stumbled upon this video, and it just brought a smile to my face. In my film class, I try to explain to my students that a good film can communicate the most complex ideas, without a word, just using images and sound. This is a perfect example. I want to travel with Matt next time! Enjoy!

My Music in Woordle Form

A new website called Wordle lets you create word clouds and I decided to create one using some of favorite musicians. Click the picture to see a larger version. If any of you guys create word clouds, post the urls in the comments below! And remember, the more times you list a word, the bigger it will appear in the cloud.

Mr. T brought boy out of coma

"Former The A-Team star Mr. T once stunned a sick child's family by bringing him out of a coma - after doctors begged the actor for help.

The poorly kid fell unconscious in Detroit, Michigan in the mid-1980s - and the only physical movement he made was in response to hearing Mr. T's name.

And when the mohawked star was in town, he stopped by the hospital to visit the ill boy - with miraculous results.

He tells Empire magazine, 'His family put toys around him and one of them was a Mr. T doll. And whenever my name came up, the boy moved his arm.

'Somebody told the doctors I was in town, so they called me down there. I closed the curtains and prayed. Then, as I was walking down the hall, the kid suddenly came out of the coma and hollered out.

That was my supernatural moment.'"

Cool Star Wars Marketing Campaign - Use only in case of Sith

Spike TV is going to be airing all six episodes of the Star Wars films starting April 4, 2008. This is a bus stop in New York promoting it. Very clever piece of marketing.

Manterns-Candles for Men

You can now buy scented candles for men at http://www.manterns.com/ With scents like Bacon Cheeseburger, Hot Wings, Beer and Cinnamon Buns, I just may have to get a few. Ladies, these are perfect for those times when you want to be romantic and get your man in the mood.

It's not a spork, it's not a fopoon, it's a knork

It's not a spork, it's not a fopoon, it's a knork.

It's a knife and fork together at last.  I may have to order one of these, just because the name is so cool.

Han Solo in Carbonite Desk

When I see stuff like this, I wish I had three things:

1.) More creativity to come up with ideas like this.

2.) More time to work on ideas on like this.

3.) More money so that I would have more time to work on being creative.

I can't lie, if I had enough money, I would probably get one for myself. :)

The Battle of Pelennor Fields in Candy

These guys made a model of Minas Tirith during the Battle of Pelennor Fields from the novel, "The Return of the King", by J.R.R. Tolkien out of candy. You can see all the photos here and you can see their version of the battle of Helms Deep, from "The Two Towers" here

"Behold, the White City of Minas Tirith is under siege by one of the largest, and certainly the tastiest army ever to walk Middle Earth."

"First, here you can see the dead Lord of the Nazgul and his crazy bird like black licorice rope mount. He’s already killed Theoden and beaten the sweet out of Merry and Eowyn. I’d say this scene is kind of sad if it weren’t for the sheer awesomeness of that black dragon type thing. I mean, really."

"This is Grond. Yes, Tolkien named EVERYTHING even battering rams. I know you can see that it’s pretty awesome just from this picture alone. However, what you can’t see is that our Grond actually swings back and forth. On LICORICE ROPES."

Working as a videographer here in Salt Lake City, I do a fair amount of wedding shoots, but I have never seen anything like this. Chidi Ogbuta of Allen, Texas made a person sized wedding cake in her likeness. Check out more photos and the full story at the link below.

Super Mario Galaxy in real life photos

These amazing photos are from a photographer named Alexandre Duret. He creates spherical panoramas where the photo is shown in 360 and 180 degrees. Really amazing work. I am posting a few here, but do yourself a favor and go see all of them (over 55) on his site. He even lists out step by step directions on how to create them for yourself.
